at peace
The snow really came down last night. We got about 8 inches worth. We are sure to not see the grass again until April.
And I couldn't be happier.
I got out my skis and rented a set for Carter and headed up Hatcher's Pass. They had tons of snow! It was a long uphill and a then of course, a long down hill...not like my usual nordic trails which have lots of both. But the snow was perfect and it was cold and clear. It felt good to be on my skis again. I can't wait until hopefully later this week the trails by the school open up.
My perfect days with Olivia in school have revolved around dreams of skiing every day.
And now they are here.
A little quote or two...
“There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.” -Washington Irving
"Education enriches the mind and enlightens the
soul," --Nicole Moncur 2008"Reading can be dangerous." --Diane Setterfield, The Thirteenth Tale
BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. CampbellI always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston

I'm so glad you are in your "element" up there! Oh, i also have a crush on your knit cap in the 2nd picture.
You look so cute in your hat...I hope you have fun in all that snow. It looks so pretty and fun! Enjoy your time on the trails!
I was thinking the same thing, your red hat is super cute and you look good too! I can't imagine living in AK and NOT getting into skiing or some other winter hobby during those cold months--what else would you do? Enjoy your perfect days!
I am really excited about the snow too! This was the winter that I was going to really learn how to ski, but now I am not sure how that will work with the baby on the way...hopefully I can still learn after the baby comes. I still plan on doing a lot of snow shoeing. By the way I dropped off a baby shower invite with Jadee on Saturday hopefully you got it.
Hallelujah for school! and all kids being in them...
I usually have to edit my comments to be a bit more pithy, as I have a hard time restraining myself....but today all I have to say is: GOOD FOR YOU!!!
Those days to ourselves are so essential. I don't even have one child in real school yet, so my time is still a ways off. That's why I do girls' weekends. :)
you always look so cute in your pictures. and the crocheted ear warmer / headband that matches your jacket is too stylish for words. You must have one rock hard hiney with all this skiing!
You are so adorable!
Wonder if this will work for me, it usually fails... wish I was there to ski with you :) it has been a long time since I was on skis... love Dad
