So on Facebook I posted this picture:
Champ got a little to close to a porcupine on The Moncur Boys' 8th annual Backpacking Trip. Some of those quills went straight through his mouth and into his gums. Others were in his nose, and on the inside of his thigh. JaDee had pliers in his fishing stuff and patiently pulled them all out from 11 PM -1 AM. Most dogs need put out for the procedure at a Vet, but our ever good dog sat through the whole ordeal. He had little choice: it was 3.5 miles to the car and about a 50 mile drive to the nearest vets office.
It probably didn't hurt that Carter and Ethan were praying for him, either.
After the quills were removed, Champ spent the rest of the trip diligently guarding camp against spuirrels and napping under trees.
Here are the rest of the pictures from their trip:
It was dark by the time they got to the trail. Every twig that snapped was interprtted as a bear coming to get them.
It was a little buggy. But fish were caught by all!
There are my boys!
Yes, what you are seeing is indeed a crapper in the forest. Apparently they grow quite well in these parts.
WOW!
So what did Livs and I do? Well I had a migraine on Friday and managed to get it under control enough to take her to McDonald's for 2 hours while I read my book. Then Saturday I cooked a huge pot of soup for a Stake dinner that the Relief Society (or look here and here too for more info) was in charge of for Stake Conference weekend. Oh, have I mentioned that I am now the Second Counselor in the Stake Relief Society? Yeah, we do a lot of dinners! So Saturday was me and my counterparts doing the dinner and Sunday Livs and I went to Stake Conference where we got a new Stake president. Then Sunday afternoon I cooked some more to have everyone from our new presidency over for dinner. It was a busy awesome weekend!
