another counter?

We all know and love the moose counter over in my side bar. I have recently added 4 more so we are fast approaching the 100 mark for a Moose-Tacular Giveaway.  Another count ought to be noted on this here blog...I am almost to post 300.

But the counter I am most contemplating is the one I will title Homeless Guy Peeing in Public in Anchorage.  That count would be at 2, if I were counting.  Sadly, I can do just that.  First there was this guy who had the decency to at least be in the proximity of a tree.  And then there was the guy I saw today, again ON THE WAY TO BORDERS! that was in the middle of the park right next to busy Minnesota Ave, for all the world to see. Luckily the sun was out and since my eyes are so not used to seeing its brilliance I was saved a full Monty.  But as I turned my head to hopefully keep from vomiting (because yes it was a park, and yes there was a puddle, and yes it made me wonder if it happened here it probably happens everywhere), I did see the most brilliant rainbow.  I wonder...

Anyway, with that happy thought the last counters I am thinking of are these:

365 days until we see the end of another summer
108 days until Christmas
15 Fridays until Christmas Break (I used to do this in College to make the semesters go by quicker, because you can do anything for 15 weeks!)
We have lived here 632 days
I still have 5 pounds to lose from Ben's wedding

here are some pictures from our hike up the Winner Creek Trail yesterday with out friends!

The coolest part of the trail is this hand tram you have to use to cross this deep ravine with a raging river running under you.  It was so cool!

This is the raging river...

And tomorrow starts the last counter of all...my first day back at 6 AM spin class.
Good night!

Look at your rugged outdoor family! :) I love it. And that is seriously gross about peeing in the middle of a park. Doesn't anyone do anything about that? And nice job on 300 posts--we smith girls are never at a loss for words, are we?

I could also start the homeless guy peeing counter! I wonder if it is the same guy? I also see a possibly dead homeless guy with a bunch of EMT's standing around him.

Is that trail up at Alyeska?

Love the family pictures. And yes, the grittier side of Anchorage. My sis-in-law once brought boxes out to the dumpster when she was working at Michaels and tossed them onto a mom and her child who were sleeping in the dumpster. So sad!

That's so cool your family hiked together. What an adventure! It looks gorgeous. I have only seen one public peeing and that was on the side of the street in Seattle. I was completely appalled at the time, but it's probably more common than I would like to admit.

I love the pic of your family on the bridge!

In regards to your last post,..I too have had doubts about whether or not I should give any business to Walmart for ethical reasons! Sad thing is,....I have (2) three year olds and I can't bare to go to five different stores when I can go to Walmart and get everything I need!

That was a very fun hike! It is so beautiful. I was wondering if I could add to your outside pee'r. I saw a guy just off Old Seward just north of Dimond mall. What is it with these guys?

A little quote or two...

BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. Campbell

I always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston
