Check this out

Some of you know that we have had some, shall we say, bumps in the last few weeks with my oldest boy Carter. He is a super sensitive boy and has been having a hard time with bullies at school. As a result his self esteem is low and he is hard on himself and he is hard to deal with. I would love to just take him home and wrap my arms around him and keep him safe from the big bad world. I have been a bit discouraged that my loving him isn't enough to save him from this rough spot in life. However, my uncle posted this video clop on our Campbell Family Website and it has inspired me to keep up the good fight. Take a look.

Ahh.. Nicole. Parenting is so hard. It hits all of the realms of feelings, most of which you never knew existed. Watching your children suffer at someone else's expense and not being able to fix it has got to be one of the worst. Most of us parents can attest to that. Carter is lucky to have you to talk to and to love him and help him learn the lessons of life that this hard experience is supposed to teach him. It's hard to see now, but some day these experiences will be what makes him the fine young man he will be, and equipped to touch other people's lives and make the world better. Just keep loving those 3 little blessings you have, and all will be well. Thanks for sharing the video. You're a great mom!

This story has got me in tears several times. My dear neighbor that lived next to my house growing up, passed away december 24th. She suffered from the same cancer. We learned of her cancer right after my sisters wedding and it seemed within weeks Oprah aired his story. I think last week he was on again and it just got me to my core.
As moms we take so much. Having our kids suffer in any matter is heart breaking. It is a fear of mine. Just like you, I wish I can just wrap my arms around my kids and never let go.
I reflect back to the many things I went through growing up and still.
Life can sure be full of bumps that are painful. If only we could look into our future to see the great things that follow. You are a great mom and your kids are lucky to have you and Jadee to run to when they need an ear, a hug, or a good cry.

A little quote or two...

“There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.” -Washington Irving

BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. Campbell

I always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston
