A little dorkie

So it is August 2 and the must anticipated release of Stephenie Meyer's 4th Twilight book, Breaking Dawn has hit the shelves. To celebrate my sister and I went to the book release party at Borders last night. We were surrounded by die hard fans who dressed up and made T-shirts declaring their love for Edward. I might be a Jacob fan. I have always had a thing for very tall dark men. (Sorry honey, but my track record prior to you shows a distinct pattern to this attraction)! However the scenes with Edward are certainly hot. And after the first 100 pages today they get even hotter. Are we sure this is a "young adult" novel???

Anyway, while we were their we ran into several of my sister's middle school students who gushed over her and her cute little pregnant belly! Yes she is 21 weeks along with a girl! She has decided to break my monopoly on Smith grandkids! We are excited!

Other pregnancy news include my long time friend, Kim in NY. She is expecting her second. Joining her is my other friend since middle school, Karen in FL. I am so glad to no longer be the only crazy one out there! But take my advice...stop at 2:)! I love Olivia with all my heart, but my marbles are completely lost!

Speaking of Olivia we were out on the tramp tonight. Just her and I, and I asked her if she had to go potty. She laughs at me, "Mom, there are no potties in the backyard!"

And in our quest for finding a name for Courtney's little girl we were looking at a name book and finding the meanings of all of our names. Nicole: victorious heart, Carter: one who pulls a cart, Ethan: firm or steadfast, Olivia: Olive tree. JaDee's name has no meaning other than it is a combination of both his grandfathers, Jay and Doyle (who was also known as JD in his younger days because his real name is Joseph Doyle).

Whew this is a long and meandering entry. I am supposed to be watching Batman Begins in preparation for viewing The Dark Knight. I guess I better pay attention so I am not asking questions in the movie theater!

my prediction: you will have a 4th! if you have already lost your marbles that is a good sign. That's the only way you can deal with, throw up, crying, sibling fighting, and the never ending needs and wants of your kiddos!

I too thought the scenes in Breaking Dawn were a little hot! Whew! I wouldn't want my 14 year old reading it that's for sure. I had fun reading them myself though :) I love the deep meaning behind Carter's name: "he who pulls a cart". I'm sure that's exactly why you named him that. Hooray for Courtney having a girl! That's so exciting. Olivia will have a friend on the Smith side now. Well, this comment is about as random as your posting so I'll stop now.

Matt chose to have his 14th Birthday party a week early with his "Circle" of 9 friends, so we had a pool party with a "Breaking Dawn" theme for him. They also went to a book release party at a bookstore in Fayetteville, and before hand the store gave me a BIG stand-up poster to put on the dining room table as well as bookmarks for each person. I had a most awesome cake made, decorated as the book cover. Red-white and black balloons topped off the decor. The kids loved it - and dressed up in prom attire to go to the book party. They had food, and a DJ there, so the kids had an incredible time. It was a birthday to remember for Matt! Dad and I read in the car in the parking lot, sticking close since we were responsible for these 9 fourteen year olds!

How cool that Courtney's students we there, and were gushing over her baby-belly! I bet she is really looking like a cute prego mom-to-be!! We, too are excited about another girl grandchild!!!!!

I COMPLETELY understand feeling as if two were enough, now that you have three! I had those similar feelings after Matt - but number three ends up being a blessing unlike any other, dispite the longing for those days you had a brain, occasional quiet, and 2 kiddos that are beginning to be somewhat independent!! :0)

Hope you enjoyed Batman Begins AND Dark Knight. Dad and I sure did! Love ya! Carol

A little quote or two...

BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. Campbell

I always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston
