Ethan always has the right thing to say

I have a few Ethan quotes that need remembering...bear with me as I use this blog as a journal for an amused mom.

On the first day of second grade Ethan was excited to see his little friend Gracie in his class again. Ethan spent most of first grade being her Kitty on the playground or she, in turn, was his dragon. I asked him what he said when he saw her.

He replies in his deepest bad guy voice "So Gracie, we meet again."

Laughing I ask, "What did Gracie say?"

"She said 'Hi, Ethan,'"

The next 2 funnies actually happened yesterday and today. Yesterday Ethan asks for a snack for him and 2-3 friends. I say Yes. He says, "My mom always says yes!" I had to laugh because I feel like I always say no!

This morning my dog was being bad on my run so I came back at halfway and did a Pilates video instead. Ethan got up and watched me do the last half. He goes, "Mom, what does thin mean?"

I said, "Not fat."

"Oh good. I didn't want to tell you the wrong thing. Mom you look really thin!"

Good boy!

I love that kid. I told JaDee that one day we went into class and he sat in my chair so I told him that was cool he could teach the lesson. So he did. He went on and on. He chose the subject. He told what we should do. He gave different circumstances and asked what we would do. Does this sound familiar to any primary teachers - its so how those lessons are. He got a little stumped when it was time for a story (surprise- he usually has plenty of those). So I, as a student of the class, mind you, told a story from the real lesson that actually went with his lesson too. I can't wait for Primary. I might have to say, "So Ethan, we meet again."

He's a crack up! Remember when he told my mom to stop staring at him at Carter's baptism? Those are such cute pictures of your kids! I'm impressed with the canning. Sorry I haven't called you, my tomatoes are just barely getting ripe up here in freezing Logan. I'm thinking of canning spaghetti sauce. Marin needs to see Olivia again, she's been talking about her nonstop for the last 2 days!

I love yours, you have all sorts of cute things on it. It was fun seeing you this weekend.

A little quote or two...

“There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.” -Washington Irving

BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. Campbell

I always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston
