The newest member...and a gift for another

Here she is. JaDee's truck. I don't know if I have ever met a happier man. Who knew this was all it took!

And an addendum to the last post: I forgot about our '98 Nissan Sentra. JaDee had to replace the clutch to get it running and then it worked great. Then we sold it to our neighbors for their girls to drive to high school right before we moved here.

This brings the grand total of Moncur cars ever owned to 15 vehicles in 13 and a half years. And I didn't mention the company car we had for awhile...

And I mentioned earlier about making something for my future sister in law Katie. She is marrying Dr. Ben and Katie is a doctor of pharmacy herself. So seriously, what do they need that little old me could possible get them.

Then I remembered this quote that I got from my own mother in law shortly after I married her son:

Families are like quilts. Lives stitched together and bound by love.

So I decided to make Katie a quilt and send it to New Jersey for the bridal shower.
Keep in mind I have never made an entire quilt by myself before. I wanted to cut and piece this one together; the whole nine yards. I had friends help me tie it and offer tips and advice along the way and I couldn't have done it without them!

So here are a couple of pictures of the final result.

I have a couple more projects brewing...

Because now I am hooked on this quilting thing!

I stole the picture of Katie off of her friend's Facebook...hope that was kosher!

What is it with guys and pick-up trucks? I'm glad JaDee can finally be happy. That is definitely a manly man's truck! I can't believe how beautiful that quilt is! I could actually get into quilting if they could turn out that cute!

I told my hubby about your little "getting a new truck" post and he swerved toward the side of the road (just to freak me out). He said he totally gets that.

Nice quilt. That reminds me, I still have one that I have to finish. ;)

Is that a truck or a boat??

Blake would be proud! I think owning a truck just completes the whole AK/outdoorsy image. I love the quilt. So cute! When are you going to make me one? :)

That quilt turned out great! Totally retro. You are so cool. Katie looks very happy!

Your truck looks like the daddy of Jed's truck! Good luck with parking!

Doh, Nicole. I'm not even going to tell Mark about that. He'll die of envy. (Over the truck, not so much the awesome quilt.) ;-)

Yaaaaa for JaDee! Hopefully your dad doesn't get "truck envy". Many of his coworkers drive trucks and I have a sneaky suspicion that if they got better mileage he would replace his Altima.

The quilt is a wonderful, thoughtful piece of work (and your love) to pass on to Ben and Katie. She looks extremely pleased with it! You are SO crafty!

A little quote or two...

“There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.” -Washington Irving

BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. Campbell

I always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston
