some say tom-AY-to, some say tom-AH-to

My friend Jodi (cohort in Relief Society) makes fun of me when I talk about Olivia and I doing Homeschool Preschool.  She pats me on the arm and says, "Its called mothering, dear."

"But," I insist.  "We do our letters, and reading, and sing songs, and do calendar..."

"I know sweetie," Jodi pats me on the arm.  "Its still called mothering."

She's right.  It is mothering. But I am trying to teach her school stuff in a structured-ish manner.  I say structured-ish because about a week ago we learned our beginning sounds and did an alphabet scavenger hunt on the way to the Gap to hit a 45% off sale.

See, I am also teaching her priorities.

Here is our Pre-School.  Today we are learning the letter F and on the board we glued Cotton to bunnies to learn the O sound.
No matter what you call it, Livs and I are having fun. She loves the little worksheets I found for her. She loves the crafts we try to come up with.  She loves the primary songs we sing for song time.  All in all it is pretty fun and we get to do it in our PJs.

Her little table and magnet board is so cute! I love it. Keep having fun doing your activities (or shopping...whatev) and that's all that matters!

You ambitious woman you! I guess I must not be "mothering" my four year old. Oh well. Not everyone has the talent I guess.

She is getting so big! And its so funny the difference between our generation and your friends (I'm assuming she's older). To us its homeschool preschool because we want to keep up with everyone who as their kids in preschool. To her its mothering because that's what all mothers should be doing and part of the job description. Not all mothers do that anymore though. So great job either way!

What cute projects. When I saw and Fat on the board, I thought about how easy it would be to slip an R between the A and the T. Have your boys tried it? :)

A little quote or two...

“There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.” -Washington Irving

BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. Campbell

I always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston
