when nothing goes right

This morning I had plans to be uber productive and take full advantage of having an almost 14 year old at home. I got up for an appointment in a salon in Anchorage to get my legs waxed.  It was at 8 AM so I made a list of all the stores I needed to hit after the appointment and then all my errands would be done.

Here is what the list looked like:

waxing
REI to look for shirt, mountain house meals, and check out my coveted sleeping bag and try not to buy it.
Costco for camping food
Nordstrom's for new bra and makeup

I figured on REI opening at 9 this morning and then hitting the rest on my list when they opened at 10, but when I got over there at 8:57 (my wax lady is the fastest ever!) the sign said REI didn't open until 10.  And I also figured out I left my 20% off one regular priced item coupon at home so I really couldn't even pretend to buy my sleeping bag anyway.  Now none of my stores were open so I had an hour to kill and not enough time to really get my list done before I needed to be home for lunch with the kiddos.

So I went to Sports Authority and found a couple of deals, nothing on my original list...

Browsed through Target and got some camping food and a Welcome mat for the front door that was also not on my original list, then stopped at the gas station to fill up and get a Diet Pepsi.

I went to pay with my Costco AmEx....

It wasn't in my wallet.  Oh yeah, it is on the kitchen by the phone from the last time I went to Costco and maneuvered the stupidest ritual on the planet (the one where you have to show your receipt on the way out... and then you can't to put everything away in its proper spot because pushing a cart that weighs and behaves like a freight train while simultaneously keeping your 5 year old from darting into traffic because she is expressing her mad-self over your not buying a mammoth sized box of Laffy Taffy; so you shove the card you are still hanging onto from the register and the receipt you just got checked into your back pocket and tell yourself "Don't forget you put that there.")...

No Costco today then... and since I had already said to my self that bra's and makeup can wait another day,  I was on the wrong side of town to head over to Nordstrom's as a 10 o'clock activity I decided to head home early and hit the bank and post office.

Oh except I couldn't find my real set of keys this morning when I left so I was driving with the spare and that means I do not have my mail box keys to check the mail.

That's OK, I can still cash the 4 checks i have in my purse. Except when I get there I can only find 3 and I proceed to write the wrong account number on the back of each of the ones I have.

This is the last time I try to be productive.

I need a nap.

story. of. my. live. I covet your Costco. We haven't had that beloved store since two states ago. I almost love it as much as Aldi. Ever live near an Aldi?
And those boy dreams weird me out too. I'm always dating people I don't know after all my husband is dead. Sometimes I have kids and sometimes not. Weird. I always wake up feeling a little icky. :)

I hate those days! I hope you enjoyed your diet soda at least and tomorrow is better.

I hope you got your nap. And I was thinking the other day that Carter will be the same age I was when I started taking him to the park at moms house. I was 14 and he was 2. So he can repay the favor by taking his 2 year old niece to the park when we see you this summer. Jk

What a frustrating start to the day, hope you finished off as unproductive as possible, eating ice cream and watching reality tv. That's what I do to sulk....And don't even get me started on Costco. I'm switching to Sam's Club this year because I'm so annoyed with that store :)

A little quote or two...

BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. Campbell

I always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston
