Who wouldn't want to be us?
“There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.” -Washington Irving
"Education enriches the mind and enlightens the
soul," --Nicole Moncur 2008"Reading can be dangerous." --Diane Setterfield, The Thirteenth Tale
BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. CampbellI always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston

Adorable family! You make Christmas look so fun in the midst of a move and Alaskan chaos!!
(Yep, I'd do the same with a fly fishing rod. My dad bought my mom a shotgun one year for her birthday. IN turn, she put a new washer/dryer on layaway for his anniversary gift. LOVE that story!)
I don't know the particulars of why the countdown has begun for you, but I'm so sorry. When we hit some bumps with purchasing this second house, I went lamenting to my mom, wondering if moving was a huge mistake and we shouldn't have done it. She said that the six times we've packed up and moved, she HATED every minute of it. It was always a nightmare with unexpected expenses, lost money on every house, closing glitches, difficult adjustments to neighborhoods and schools, etc. It made me feel a little better that I wasn't the only one!
I totally understand. It is so hard to move and feel all alone. My mom says "hi" we are in CA visiting. It does get better. If nothing else tomorrow is only 1079 days!
Oh Nicole! I just read all three installments of your trek to Alaska and let me say, reading about you sitting there in the airport with your 10 suitcases, 3 kids, and 3 pets brought tears to my eyes... literally. I know I am pregnant and prone to emotion, but you poor thing! I'm so glad you were able to feel a little peace right there and get settled in to your hotel. We miss you lots and pray every night that you'll get a house soon. And think of this-- after what you've been through, things can only get BETTER! Love you guys!
Nicole, I am so impressed with the gingerbread house, and the chain decorations on the tree, and the chains as a swag over the fireplace . . . so beautiful!!! You are such an amazing mom . . . even though you're stuck where you are . . . and you're counting the days . . . what fun it must of been to spend christmas doing fun things together, as you always do. After seeing the pictures, I was singing your praises to your dad, and he said "well she is a teacher"! I had to reply "yes, but in high school, and I don't think she has the high schoolers making red and green chains or gingerbread houses! We both got a chuckle out of it. Anyway, we send our love . . . and are glad it's only 1078 now! Love, Carol
