Got milk?

It is now December and I must be blogged out because I haven't written any posts since I finished up my marathon of thanks. So here are some thoughts.

We have 7 days until our house is empty and I start my life as Sarah Palin's new best friend because I want a spot in her cabinet in 2013. My mantra has been "no crying until the house is empty" and that day is steadily approaching. I will weep.

Jen and Sarah threw a sweet good-bye lunch for me and all our friends. We had such a good time and it will always be one of my happiest memories to have such good friends. Thanks you guys for being so awesome!

Sharon is setting us up with a good-by open house Sunday night. So thanks ahead of time for that. You are awesome too!

To all of you who have promised a visit...we are holding you to it. Check out this link to the latest house we found. (then type #08-14003 in the MLS box). It is in the boonies but that has its positives. For example, I want chickens. Lots of houses we have found have chicken coops and I found a breed that is extremely cold tolerant. After Carter's experience raising his chicks form school last year I'd say we are pro's at this.

Now brother in law Jeff would like a milk cow. As would red headed sister CaMee who is home on the farm. she tried to convince her husband, Travis to go catch her the cow in the pasture that had just weaned its calf. She has 6 kids and spend like $25 a week on milk! But she has chickens and has banned cereal form her house because they use too much milk. For breakfast it is eggs or cracked wheat.

Anyway, back to Jeff. He lives in Vail Valley, CO and is our host to a number of grand adventures. He does not exactly have room for a cow. But while at the farm over Thanksgiving he ran into a friend of theirs. She was hurrying home to milk her cow. Well not her cow exactly, but one she was borrowing. See she was thinking about getting a cow and decided to borrow her neighbor's to see if she could handle the milkings. In other words, she was test driving a dairy cow.

but get this, she was getting 8 gallons a day! Jeff was ready to move back to farm, catch that cow for CaMee, and share milking duties and all the product.

I am starting with my chickens if we get a place with animal rights. Then when we move to the farm, I will join in milk cow co-op with Jeff and CaMee.

In the mean time I will pay my $4 a gallon for milk in the great white north.

I love your new background and picture! I'm getting so sad about your move but (this will shock you I'm afraid) I'm not one for big, emotional good-byes. But know that I am very sad you guys are moving and I'll call you lots so we can still chat! I say go for the cow and chickens-- live it up while you can!

I think of you often and what a wonderful adventure it will be for all of you. I know it will be hard and very sad but think of the stories you'll have to share with all of us. Good luck with move. Nicole,
What a beautiful house!! I hope things work out for this one, for it looks like a house you could be comfortable in, not to mention the phenomenal views!

I have to say I admire your "farmer side" . . . wanting the cow and chickens, and all the planting and harvesting you have done in the past. Those things are not easy, and you have been blessed with talents that enables you to be successful with all the "farming" you've done so far!

We're sending our love, and our prayers always, but especially now with the move at hand. We can't wait to visit you in Alaska!

BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. Campbell

I always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston
