What to post

I am posting because I know my sister will get mad at me if I don't :)

We leave for the East, the land of my childhood and adolescents in 2 weeks. It will start with a 10 hours in the airplanes (that is not counting the layover). Wish me luck and long life life batteries.

The play was fantastic! The cast and crew were so kind and pitched in for a gift certificate to a sweet restaurant here in in Anchorage. I was so surprised! They called me on stage and everything. And the cast voted for their favorite costume and chose one that did not come from one of our suppliers, but was actually one I put together myself with the help of eBay and a few things I had lying around. They didn't even know that was a Moncur Original and it won! I was so excited since this really was such a fun project for me.

X-country skiing really may be over after tonight. I am about to head out to a set of our lighted trails and after 2 days of 34+ degree weather the snow is not in good shape. But I am up for one last run anyway.

After hearing Olivia scream I WANT SPRITE!! all the way to ballet the other day I called JaDee to tell her I was done with my turn being her mom. Would anyone else like a shot at it? Or could he just tell work that the part of HIM will be played by his wife the rest of this week since she needs a break but we still need his salary? I said I would even do math, if that what it took to get out of taking her to the store with me again this week.

We are routing for DeeDee Jonrowe this year for the Iditarod. JaDee got to meet her and share some of her cookies (her grandmothers recipe no less) up in Kaltag last year. Read her bio HERE and see how awesome she is.

Good luck DeeDee!

This morning I gave Brooke some milk in the 'wrong' sippie cup and she freaked out and cried for a long time. What is it with these Smith grandkids and beverages? I am getting excited for our vacation too & am praying Brooke sleeps the entire flight!

That is so great that the kids got to vote on their favorite costume! What a fun idea. I'm glad they showed their appreciation for you - as they should :) Ugh, I'm done being Jane's mom lately. We're butting heads like crazy, and at the end of the day I just want to throw myself out the window! Have a fun time back east!

A little quote or two...

“There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.” -Washington Irving

BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. Campbell

I always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston
