wish you were here

This group of islands has a name but I forgot what it was. But definitely one of those moments where I could not believe I LIVE HERE!!
We had my dad, his wife Carol, her son Matt, and my Grandma up from Arkansas the past 10 days. We ran them ragged and had a wonderful visit with some pretty amazing things to keep us occupied. Over and over again throughout the week they were here, I kept saying to myself, "i can't believe I LIVE here!"

Check out some of these pictures and you will see what I mean.

PS-All of these were taken by my dad. I have turned into a horrible photographer lately.

It was so awesome to have family here. Grandma was glad to see where I lived and said she did not worry so much now that she knows where I am (in a real live town and not is some ice cave some where).

We saw Stellar Sea Lions, Orcas, Humpbacks, Puffins and sea otters on our Kenai Fjords tour of Resurrection Bay.

Check out this awesome channel from the Alaska Sea Life Center that shows live action of the Stellar Sea Lions. They even have it as a local channel on cable in Seward. I saw one give birth while I was watching it in our hotel that night.

A real live killer whale in Resurrection Bay. I have now completed one of my 100 goals in life, that is, I saw a whale. This little guy was with a whole pod so we saw 7, including his old Dad.

What have we here! One of the 3 humpback whales we saw on the same day.!

This was moose #77 for my year and a half I have been in Alaska. Look for a give away when I reach 100 moose sitings on the moose counter!

Me, my dad and Olivia in front of Mt. McKinley in the background (it is really hard to see in the bright white with all of its snow).

Carter, Matthew, Me, Olivia, Ethan, Carol, Dad, and Grandma. At 84 she was having the time of her life. We kept a slower than usual Moncur pace for her and managed to see it all.

Including this Dall Sheep! He was right above our bus in Denali National Park. We saw 5 grizzlies, a black bear, 5 moose, sheep, eagles and A WOLF!!

Turnagain Arm from Beluga Point. Some of us saw these whales too.

The dogs of Denali National Park. They still use the dogsled teams to get around all winter here. These guys were cool.

Now its your turn! Call and make your reservations with us anytime!

Oh my when did Carter turn into a teenager?! He looks so old with long hair! This all looks so beautiful, we will save our pennies and Mitch will come when JaDee perfects the salmon fishing!

I'm glad you had fun with Dad & Carol & grandma. And Carter does look old. He'll be older than the students I teach in 7th grade next year. Weird! I am slowly winning the battle at convincing Blake we need to visit in the summer vs. during hunting season. Hopefully we'll be up there soon!

Wow! You need to take us on photo tours more often! But I can't say I'm headed there on vacation anytime soon.....I tend to migrate south, like Mexico or the Carribean.....Glad you had a good visit with the fam!

Such beautiful scenery. I will have to show Matt...he dreams of visiting Alaska.

As always your moose count gives me joy, but a photo too?! Moose-tastic!!

A little quote or two...

“There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.” -Washington Irving

BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. Campbell

I always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston
