Hazing

I got a calling in Church last week. For those of you not of the Mormon persuasion all of our church duties are filled by inspiration from our ward leaders to ask us to fulfill a certain duty, or calling. I got called to be the Assistant Wolf Den Leader. And the Wolf leader had a baby last week so I am it. And last Thursday was our first night.

It was me, and I had to drag JaDee along since the scouts requires 2 people, and I really didn't know who else to ask. We were making invitations to the Blue and Gold Banquet at the end of the month. And for an art requirement we were making a stencil of the United States to paint on the front of the invitation.

Did I mention that I had 8 boys in the den. Yeah, well I have 8 boys!

And I only had 2 pairs of scissors. That was all I could find in the boxes we had opened so far.

It went well. A lot of chaos, which is to be expected. And at the end of it all I was packing up and I was beat. And I have to do this again every week, for well, until my bishop gets heavenly inspiration to move me somewhere else.

I am praying for him to get that inspiration soon.

You can too.

This is funny to me as i attended a Blue and Gold banquet just yesterday which I posted about!!

Can you say you don't feel the same calling and back out? Just wondering. In our church everybody thinks I'm made to oversee bible school crafts...and I honestly do NOt feel the spirit to do it! And yet I do!!

hang in there!!

Okay. I just have to say, when I was called to Webelos, I was the only one in it and I did the same thing with my husband. I made him come each and every time! It was hard at first, but rest assured it will get easier as time goes on. Besides, just think of it as playtime with 8 little 8 year olds!!! WAHOO!

I feel for you. The only worse thing than scouts would be nursery for me! From the title of your post I was expecting some story about hazing going on in the scouting system...glad to know I was wrong! Did you get your calling before or after you ate at the bishop's house? I told you you'd get a calling for having such a well behaved family! =)

When I read the title of your post I thought for sure you got put into nursery. In primary we are under strict orders not to call new members of our ward to nursery! But scouting for me would be a hazing too. I am DYING over LMSU! I usually sit in silence when people are verbally assaulting me too and then later I think of all the things I should have said!

My condolences, er congratulations!

A little quote or two...

BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. Campbell

I always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston
