Do you know where Kaltag is?

Me either. But JaDee, that little devil who lives under a lucky star, gets to spend 5 days here next week as a volunteer on the Iditarod trail!

I am going to be watching British Dramas from Netflix and hanging out with the hooligans on Spring Break.

Wish I was in Hawaii...Barb...lets go!

Some more facts about Kaltag:
There are 117 males and 90 females.
It is 653 miles from Anchorage.
The nearest hospital is 274 miles away.
There are 26 students at the Kaltag; 3 of which are seniors.
They do have a small airport. And apparently a snowmobile or 2. But they call them "snow machines" in Alaska. I want to get a coat for the boy running in the bottom right of this shot.

I hear that seaplanes/skiplanes are the best way to get around rural Alaska, so it doesn't surprise me that they have a little airport. The fact that the hospital is so far away scares me.

Alaska doesn't have spring at "spring break" does it?

Yes! Buy that little boy a coat! What is wrong with him? Maybe it broke the freezing mark so it was time to break out the t-shirts! So what will JaDee do to help out with dog races? I hope your kids are good for you over spring break so you can get some good movie watching in!

What an awesome experience to be at the Iditarod! Sounds like Alaska has been JaDee's dream come true!

JaDee called for Mitch the other night and Mitch wasn't home (he was actually with my brother Blake at the USU gymnastics trampoline gym practicing tricks to try snowboarding-- yeah, you can tell our husbands are brothers)-- anyway he told me all about this. My first question was how you felt about it, he said you were fine as long as you didn't have to go with him! He cracks me up!

A little quote or two...

“There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.” -Washington Irving

BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. Campbell

I always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston
