keep on keepin' on

My eye is better, thank you for asking. My birds are happy. My scarf is sitting neglected in a hidden corner of the Living room in a box of CDs because Olivia wants to "help." And she has a passion for string, ribbon, long plastic snakes and strips of toilet paper or anything else she can trail along behind her as she runs pell mell throughout the house. You can guess what a thrill the sight of a ball of yarn is for her.

Official sunrise 7:56. Official sunset 6:28. See its not dark here at all!

I went through about 7 or 8 boxes of books this weekend. Oh how I love books. In one of those "questionnaires" that went around Facebook, I answered 25 random things. I made note that I really only like to read and that anything else I say I like I'm just pretending. That is pretty close to the absolute truth! I take any chance I get to read. My day is not complete without at least 30 or more minutes of reading a leisure book. Scriptures don't count. That is a duty, although enjoyable, still a duty.

I got rid of a few books. I kept and labeled the boxes of those I am keeping. We had a pretty decent sized built in shelf unit in our guest room/playroom in Perry and I could lay may hands on any of them at a moments notice. Now they live in little boxes in the garage. They know I love them.

We are coming home on June 4. We will be in Utah and Wyoming from then until the 21 of June. The tickets are bought. We are baptizing Ethan in Lovell with all of the family that can make it.

And I am already sad at the goodbyes coming at the end of that trip.

In fact it is darn near unbearable for me to think of not seeing my brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews as often as we are used to. We have Ben's wedding in March next year, but I don't think we will get back down before then. And I do not when we we will make it after. At $3000+ a trip for all of us it is hard to do often.

So I don't think about it. I keep on keepin' on.

Amen. the first couple of trips from Oregon to family, and I was wracked with homesickness when we got back. Now that hubby no longer has flight perks, we won't be going back for a loooong time. darn it.

As sad as you will be to leave everyone . . . you know your time away is "limited", and that should give you something to hold on to. Plus . . . you're making your house a home now, and after visiting friends and family and having a hectic schedule while you're there to see everyone . . . somehow it still feels good to be "home" AGAIN.

A little quote or two...

“There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.” -Washington Irving

BOOK HOUSE from the paper of my Grandfather Sidney W. Campbell

I always think the cover of a book is like a door Which opens into someone's house where I've not been
before. A pirate or a fairy queen may lift the latch for me. I always wonder when I knock, what welcome there will be. And when I find a house that's dull, I do not often stay But when I find one full of friends, I'm apt to spend the day. I never know what sort of folks will be within you see. And that's why reading always is so interesting to me. ~~Annie Fellows Johnston
