| After Church we all promptly changed and got down to opening my Birthday Presents! |
I am blessed/cursed with my birthday being the day after Christmas. Last year JaDee started a tradition of letting the kids each buy me a birthday present. Last year I got salad tongs and a spare key to the car and fuzzy pajama pants. This year you won't believe what they chose!
 |
| From Ethan: A snuggie. After he got his own for Christmas last year, he kept telling me how great it was. Well this year I apparently needed one for my birthday. Carter also thought I would like the Peace signs on them, "Since you were alive back then." What? How old does he think I am? |
 |
| Apparently he thinks I am pretty old since he got me a portable Shiatsu massage. "Just like the one Papa has in Wyoming!" wow. He really does think I was alive in the 60s. |
 |
| Ben got me a sweet base layer, Courtney sent me Skull Candy earphones to solve my previously mentioned earphone problem. |
 |
| And thank heavens for little girls! Olivia went through card after card with her dad to find the one that sounded just right to give to Mom. She wrote her own name and asked Dad how to spell love and then wrote it herself. She told her brothers that , no, they could not sign the card too. They should have picked out their own! |
 |
| Apparently she wrote the back of the card all by herself too. This time without any help from JaDee. |
 |
| And she knows how to spell MOM all by herself too. Boy, her preschool teacher must be awesome!! ;) |
 |
| And she saved the day and bought me flowers. Not only did she buy them for me herself, Olivia kept it a secret for 2 whole days while they were hidden in the garage waiting for it to be my birthday. |
JaDee got me my sewing machine that I already knew about since I used it to make my mom's quilt and all. I got some great little gifts and cards from my AMAZING friends too! I have to say I love my birthday!
As a side note, I have spent the last 15 years watching JaDee's sisters help their dad with gifts for their mom for her birthday and Christmas (translation: I have watched them do the birthday shopping for him, even picking out the anniversary band a few years ago and showing it to him just prior to wrapping). Being married to that man's son has made me ever grateful for having a daughter. Let's just say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Remember, I once got a book about dogs for a Valentine's gift.
Here's to the years ahead of great presents picked out by Olivia!
ps: all items can be found at wal-mart and apparently your shopping trip will last only 10 seconds since all of these items are located in the front of the store. Only Olivia went in with the actual purpose of getting flowers.

Totally cracking up at this post.....Happy Birthday to you....and yes, you are blessed to have a daughter who will be the one to give the more sentimental and thoughtful gifts. This year, Tyler took me to Macy's and said just show me some things you might want. So I did.....and he got me exactly those things. No surprises in my house - but it's better than previous year surprises, like the GPS for our anniversary. This was a week after having Ryker and needless to say I was not thrilled. I have come around and do appreciate the little gadget....but not quite the anniversary gift I was looking for. Glad Olivia came through this year!
Happy Birthday! I think all kids think their parents have one foot in the grave, no matter how old they are. But it won't be long before they realize just how good they've got it (hopefully).
What a fun Christmas. Those snow machines are awesome. We need some of those here.
Happy (belated) birthday, Nicole! What a precious little family you have!
What a wonderful birthday!! Enjoy that snuggie and all those shiatsu messages!!
Yes, thank heaven for girls! I picked out my mom's awesome Christmas gift from my dad (concert tickets in Vegas) and she thinks it's from him. Although I do believe you got the short end of the stick in this area... Mitch and AshLee are awesome at picking out gifts. I'm glad you had a great birthday! I'll probably get you your gift by March-ish?
P.S. Weird that you would want to name our baby Luke because that's the only name I like and Mitch hates it! I read him your comment and said it was meant to be, but he won't budge!
Weird, I totally thought I commented on this post. Happy Birtday! I hope those earphones work out for you. Now you can listen to your music while wrapped in your snuggie and getting a back massage :)
So insanely funny. Happy Birthday and I'm so happy you are snuggied now:) I love the picts of the snowmibiles! In IA there were tracks all along roads and highways and I wondered if that's what the corn farmers did in the winter:) Happy New Year!
